Saying the Wicked are Righteous - Proverbs 24:24

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment, and in chapter twenty-four and verse twenty-four of Proverbs Solomon shared about, “he that says unto the wicked, you are righteous” where we read,

He that says unto the wicked, You are righteous;

him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:

The verse begins, “He that says unto the wicked, You are righteous; Solomon began with the words, “he that says” or “he, the person whether male or female, who acts as a judge and utters, declares and proclaims” “unto the wicked” which means “toward people who are criminal, guilty of crimes, evil and hostile to God”, “you are righteous” or “you, wicked person, exist as innocent, right, just, lawful and correct”. Solomon referred to the person who declares to people who are evil and hostile to God that they are right, just and lawful.

The verse goes on to say, “him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:” Solomon continued with the words, “him shall the people curse” or “him, the person who judges and calls the wicked righteous, will be denounced by others”, “nations shall abhor him” which means “the community, group and assembly of people will denounce, express indignation toward and be defiant toward him, the person who judges”. Solomon said other people will denounce the one judging the guilty as innocent, and the people of the community will express indignation toward them.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how the person who judges an evil person as innocent will have negative repercussions not only from the people surrounding them, but also from the community as a whole. God wants us to be honorable in our judgments, and when we receive His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to be honorable in our judgments so we are not denounced and disregarded by others who observe our errant judgments.

Next time Solomon says, “to them that rebuke him shall be delight”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
