The Curse Causeless Shall Not Come - Proverbs 26:2

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honor is not seemly for a fool, and in chapter twenty-six and two of Proverbs Solomon said, “the curse causeless shall not come” where we read,

As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying,

so the curse causeless shall not come.

The verse begins, As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, ... Solomon began with the words, “as the bird by wandering” or “similar and in likeness to the little fowl or sparrow through the means of shaking, wavering, fluttering and moving to and fro”, “as the swallow by flying” which means “similar and in likeness to the swift or kind of swallow bird through the means of hovering, brandishing and flying about to and fro”. Solomon referred to the way a small fowl flutters about and a swift bird that hovers and flies about to and fro to describe the following.

The verse continues, “... so the curse causeless shall not come. Solomon added the words, “so the curse causeless” or “even, also and indeed the undeserved vilification, abhorrence and execration” “shall not come” which means “will in no way or manner enter be attained or enumerated”. Solomon said undeserved vilification and abhorrence will in no way be attained or entered.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how an undeserved “curse” does not land upon it's intended victim similar to the way “birds and swallows” flutter about and dart from one direction to another. Some may believe this to mean they are “getting away with” their evil acts, however, God knows them all. God loves us, and He proved His love to us by sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins. When we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us the value of knowing that no one “gets away with” their evil, and unless they humble themselves, repent of their sins and surrender to Jesus, they shall give an account on their own for everything they have done.

Next time Solomon shares about, “a rod for the fool's back”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
