In Psalms chapter thirty one David said, “My times are in your hand: deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from them that persecute me”, and in chapter thirty one and verse sixteen of Psalms David said to Jehovah, “Make your face to shine upon your servant”, where we read,
Make your face to shine upon your servant: save me for your mercies' sake.
The verse begins, “Make your face to shine upon your servant:” David began with the words, “make your face to shine” which means “illuminate and light up your, Jehovah God's, countenance and presence” “upon your servant” or “on, your, Jehovah God's, slave, bondman and man of servile condition”. David humbled himself as a “servant” as he appealed to Jehovah God to illuminate him with His countenance.
The verse goes on to say, “save me for your mercies' sake.” David continued with the words, “save me” or “defend, deliver, help, preserve and avenge me, David” “for your mercies' sake” which means “on behalf of your, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness”. David asked Jehovah to rescue and deliver him on behalf of His goodness and kindness.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Jehovah God's presence and favor was important to David. He wanted Jehovah to rescue and deliver Him because He is good and king, and God desires to have a personal relationship with every person who humbles themselves before Him. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and have His presence and salvation with us all the days of our lives both now and forever.
Next time David says to Jehovah God, “Let me not be ashamed, O LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
