I Trusted in You, O LORD - Psalms 31:14

In Psalms chapter thirty one David said, “I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel. For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life”, and in chapter thirty one and verse fourteen of Psalms David said, “But I trusted in you, O LORD”, where we read,

But I trusted in you, O LORD: I said, You are my God.

The verse begins, But I trusted in you, O LORD:” David began with the words, “But I trusted in you” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover I, David, am bold, confident and feel safe in you, Jehovah God”, “O LORD” or “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. David declared his faith and confidence in Jehovah God when people surrounded and wanted him dead.

The verse goes on to say, I said, You are my God. David continued with the words, “I said” or “I, David, uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “You are my God” which means “You, Jehovah God, exist as my Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. David declared Jehovah God to be his Divine ruler and judge.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David put his confidence in Jehovah God when people were plotting to kill him. David faced great opposition most of his life, and he learned early to have confidence in Jehovah God. God desires everyone to put their faith and trust in Him, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind so they could have a personal relationship with Him. When we submit to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and be the One within whom we have confidence when our enemies surround us and wish us to be dead.

Next time David says, My times are in your hand, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
