In Psalms chapter eighty one Asaph said, “Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day. For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob”, and in chapter eighty one and verse five of Psalms Asaph said, “this he ordained in Joseph for a testimony”, where we read,
This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt:
where I heard a language that I understood not.
The verse begins, “This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt:” Asaph began with the words, “this he ordained” or “this, the ordinance of the blowing of the trumpet on the feast day, he, Jehovah God, set, put, appointed and made” “in Joseph” which means “within Joseph whose name means Jehovah has added and was the eldest son of Jacob by Rachel” “for a testimony” or “a witness”, “when he went out” which means “at the time and moment he, Jehovah God, exited, departed and brought out” “through the land of Egypt” or “belonging to Egypt whose name means land of the Copts and was a country at the northeastern section of Africa, adjacent to Palestine and through which the Nile flows”. Asaph said Jehovah God appointed the blowing of the shophar in the new moon festival during the time the people of Israel were in “Egypt” and under the care of “Joseph”. (See Exodus 13:8-16)
The verse continues, “where I heard a language that I understood not.” Asaph added the words, “where I heard a language” or “at the place and location I, Asaph, was given the faculty for hearing, perceiving and understanding a speech or prating” “that I understood not” which means “that I, Asaph, did not know, perceive or discern”. Asaph referred to the speech of the people of “Egypt” of which he did not know, perceive or understand.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Asaph remembered that Jehovah God gave the people of Israel the ordinance of blowing the trumpet at the new moon feast at the time He lead the people out of “Egypt”. Asaph did not know the “language” of the people of “Egypt” even through he heard them speak. Nonetheless, Jehovah God delivered Israel because He loved them. God will rescue and save every person from the penalty of sin which is death when they believe and trust in His Son Jesus as their “Lord and Savior”. God sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and be with us regardless of what language we speak or do or do not understand.
