The Mighty Redeemer - Proverbs 23:11

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless”, and in chapter twenty-three and verse eleven of Proverbs Solomon said, “their redeemer is mighty” where we read,

For their redeemer is mighty;

he shall plead their cause with you.

The verse begins, “For their redeemer is mighty; Solomon began with the words, “for their redeemer” or “because, since and on account that their, the fatherless', revenger, next of kin and avenger” “is mighty” which means “exists as powerful, strong and firm”. Solomon shared how the avenger of the “fatherless” exists as powerful and strong.

The verse goes on to say, “he shall plead their cause with you.” Solomon continued with the words, “he shall plead their cause” or “he, the fatherless' avenger, will strive, contend and make a complaint” “with you” which means “alongside and beside you, the person who enter into the fields of the fatherless”. Solomon said the avenger of the “fatherless”would contend with those who encroached upon their “field”.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how people who are “orphans” and“fatherless” have a defender on their side. Whenever people attempt to take advantage of them, the contender of the “fatherless” will protect and provide for them. God wants to be our avenger, and when we surrender our lives to His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and defend and protect us when oppressors attempt to take advantage of us in His Kingdom.

Next time Solomon says, “apply your heart unto instruction”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
