Jesus' Disciples Know - John 17:7

The apostle John wrote how Jesus prayed to His Father God, I have manifested your name unto the men which you gave me out of the world: yours they were, and you gave them to me; and they have kept your word”, and in chapter seventeen and verse seven of his book John shared how Jesus prayed to His Father God how His disciples, “have known that all things whatsoever you have given me are of you” where we read:

Now they have known that all things whatsoever you have given me are of you.

The verse reads,Now they have known that all things ... John began with Jesus' words, “Now they have known” which means “at this time and moment the men given to Jesus by God the Heavenly Father have understood, perceived, noticed and discerned” “that all things” or “that each, every, the whole and everything that exists” are as follows. John shared how Jesus began to tell His Heavenly Father God how His disciples understood that everything was as follows.

The verse goes on to say, “...whatsoever you have given me are of you.” John continued with Jesus' words, “whatsoever you have given me” or “whatever you, God the Heavenly Father, have provided, granted, furnished and supplied to me, Jesus” “are of you” which means “exist and came into being from you, God the Heavenly Father”. John shared how Jesus told His Heavenly Father God that everything that He “provided and furnished” to Him existed because of God the Heavenly Father.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how nothing provided to Jesus was not from His Heavenly Father God. Jesus' disciples came to “know” everything existed because of God the Father, and when Jesus was given what He needed in His ministry, they knew those things came from God. God desires to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus so they may have whatever they need in the world. (See Philippians 4:19) God's purpose and plan is “eternal” in nature, and whatever is necessary for a believer in Him to possess with “everlasting” thoughts in mind, He will provide. Those who are wise will carefully examine Jesus' words and understand they too may “know that all things whatsoever” God provided to Jesus were from Him and employed so they too may forever live with God the Father and Christ the Son.

Next time John shares how Jesus prays concerning His disciples, “I have given unto them the words which you gave me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
