The Love of the Father and Jesus - John 15:9

The apostle John wrote how Jesus told His disciples, If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; so shall you be my disciples”, and in chapter fifteen and verse nine of his book John shared how Jesus said, “as the Father has loved me, so have I loved you”, where we read:

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you: continue you in my love.

The verse reads,As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you: John began with Jesus' words, “As the Father” which means “in the same manner and likeness the Heavenly Father God” “has loved me” or “has been fond of, well pleased with and dearly loved me, Jesus”, “so have I loved you” which means “even so and indeed have I, Jesus, been fond of, well pleased with and dearly loved you, disciples of Jesus”. John shared how Jesus told His disciples He has “dearly loved” them in the same manner that His Heavenly Father “loved” Him.

The verse goes on to say, continue you in my love.” John continued with the words, “continue you” which means “remain, abide and sojourn” “in my love” or “in Jesus' fondness, well pleasing and being dearly loved”. John shared how Jesus told His disciples to “remain and abide” within His “love”.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus “loved” His disciples in the same way His Heavenly Father “loved” Him, and He charged them to “remain and abide” within the “love” He extended to them. God loves people, and He sent His Son Jesus to the earth to pay the price of death for the sins of the world. This demonstrated the love of Jesus, and anyone who yields their life to Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life. Let all who read these words receive the “love” of Jesus and “remain” within His “love” for all eternity.

Next time John shares how Jesus says, “if you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
