Things Jesus Spoke While Present - John 14:25

The apostle John wrote, Judas said unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself unto us, and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loves me not keeps not my sayings: and the word which you hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me”, and in chapter fourteen and verse twenty-five of his book John shared how, “these things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you”, where we read:

These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.

The verse reads,These things have I spoken unto you, ... John began with the words, “These things” which means “the words that Jesus declared to His disciples” “have I spoken unto you” or “have I, Jesus, uttered, declared and proclaimed to you, disciples of Jesus”. John shared how Jesus said He told His disciples about loving Him and keeping His word at this time.

The verse continues, ... being yet present with you.John added the words, “being yet present” which means “while remaining, abiding and tarrying” “with you” or “alongside you, disciples of Jesus”. John shared how Jesus told His disciples He shared His words with them while He was still among them.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus thought it was important to share the advantage His disciples had not only because He was among them, but also because He shared about “loving” Him and “keeping His commandments”. The others in the world would not know these things till many years later, and Jesus' disciples would be responsible for sharing them. God the Father desires to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when they yield their lives to Jesus as their “Savior and Lord”, they enjoy an intimacy with Jesus that includes forgiveness of sins and eternal life with Him.

Next time John shares how Jesus says, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost … shall teach you all things”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
