Jesus Loves the Father - John 14:31

The apostle John wrote how Jesus told His disciples, Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world comes, and had nothing in me”, and in chapter fourteen and verse thirty-one of his book John shared how Jesus told His disciples the reason was so, “the world may know that I love the Father”, where we read:

But that the world may know that I love the Father;

and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go from here.

The verse reads,But that the world may know that I love the Father; John began with the words, “But that the world” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover so the circle of the earth and it's inhabitants” “may know” or “will understand, perceive and be acquainted with the idea” “that I love the Father” which means “that I, Jesus, am fond of, am well pleased and contented with and love dearly the Heavenly Father God”. John shared how Jesus proclaimed that the “world” and it's inhabitants would understand His “dear love” for His Heavenly Father God.

The verse goes on to say, and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go from here.John continued with the words, “and as the Father” which means “and in like manner that the Heavenly Father God” “gave me commandment” or “ordered, enjoined and gave charge to Jesus”, “even so I do” which means “the selfsame did I, Jesus, perform, make ready and produce”. “Arise” or “arouse and rise up”, “let us go from here” which means “allow Jesus and His disciples to depart and leave from this place and location”. John shared Jesus said He obeyed the “order and charge” His Heavenly Father gave to Him, and then He told His disciple they should leave their present location.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus desired for the world and it's inhabitants to know He “loved” His Father God, and He obeyed the “charge” His Heavenly Father gave Him. Jesus was fulfilling the “salvation” plan for mankind, and His disciples were following alongside. Soon Jesus would be on His own and pay the price for the sins of the world. His idea was to include His disciples in this knowledge so they would share the “gospel” or “good news” of salvation through Jesus Christ after He left them, and those who yield to Jesus today will be forgiven of their sins and receive everlasting life from His Father God. Jesus loves His Father God, and His Father God loves people. Because Jesus kept the Heavenly Father's charge, everyone who believes and trusts in Him may be “saved”.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see John share how Jesus proclaims, “I am the true vine”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
