The Spirit Glorifying Jesus - John 16:14

The apostle John wrote how Jesus told His disciples, I have yet many things to say unto you, but you cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come”, and in chapter sixteen and verse fourteen of his book John shared how Jesus told His disciples, “He shall glorify me” where we read:

He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you.

The verse reads,He shall glorify me: John began with Jesus' word, “he” which means “the Spirit of truth” “shall glorify me” or “will magnify, praise, extol and celebrate me, Jesus”. John shared how Jesus said the role of the “Spirit of truth” is to “praise, magnify and celebrate” Him.

The verse goes on to say, for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you.. John continued with the words, “for he shall receive of mine” or “because, since and on account that the Spirit of truth will lay hold of, claim, procure and obtain from me, Jesus”, “and shall show it unto you” which means “and will announce, make known, report and bring tidings to you, disciples of Jesus, what the Spirit of truth has received”. John shared how Jesus said the “Spirit of truth” would “procure and obtain” ideas from Him and would “report and make known” those things to His disciples.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus said the “Spirit of truth” would give honor and praise to Jesus because He would obtain information from Jesus and declare it to His disciples. God had an order and plan for the “salvation” of mankind through His Son Jesus. Jesus was to go to the cross to die for the sins of mankind and afterward rise from the dead and return to His Heavenly Father. There He would dispatch the “Spirit of truth”, the Holy Spirit”, who would be responsible to give praise and honor to Jesus as well as communicating His desires and ideas to His disciples. The “Spirit of truth” speaks of Jesus, and those who are listening will hear Him call them unto salvation and lead them in their lives when they receive Him as their personal “Savior and Lord” .

Next time we see John share how Jesus says, “All things that the Father has are mine”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
