You Shall Die Like Men - Psalms 82:7

In Psalms chapter eighty two Asaph said, “I have said, You are gods; and all of you are children of the most High”, and in chapter eighty two and verse seven of Psalms Asaph said, “you shall die like men”, where we read,

But you shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.

The verse begins, But you shall die like men, ... Asaph began with the words, “But you” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover you, children of the most High” “shall die like men” which means “will be killed, executed and put to death similar to mortal human beings”. Asaph said the people who were judges and rulers as well as the offspring of Jehovah God would be killed and put to death like unto mortal people.

The verse goes on to say,... and fall like one of the princes. Asaph continued with the words, “and fall” or “and be cast down, prostrate and thrown down” “like one of the princes” which means “similar and in likeness to a certain and particular one of the rulers, chieftains, leaders and overseers”. Asaph shared how the people who were “rulers and leaders” and the “offspring of the most High” would also be cast and thrown down.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how the destiny of the people who were as “gods” and were “offspring of the most High” was to be put to death and cast down like other rulers. Though people have rule and reign over others, they shall give an account of their judgment. Jehovah God rules over everyone, and no one has greater authority than Him. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and judge righteously over anyone who has authority in this world.

Next time Asaph says, “Arise, O God, judge the earth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
