Jesus Sitting on the Right Hand of God - Luke 22:69

Luke the beloved physician wrote how, “the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him. And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote you? And many other things blasphemously spoke they against him. And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying, Are you the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe: And if I also ask you, you will not answer me, nor let me go”, and in chapter twenty-two and verse sixty-nine of his book Luke shared how Jesus said, “hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God” where we read:

Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.

The verse reads, “Hereafter shall the Son of man sit ... Luke began with the word, “Hereafter or “from now and this present time” “shall the Son of man” which means “will God's Son Jesus” “sit” or “be seated, fixed and established” in the following place. Luke shared how Jesus told the “religious leaders” how He was to be “seated” in the following location.

The verse continues, “... on the right hand of the power of God. Luke added the words, “on the right hand” which means “at the place of honor and authority” “of the power” or belonging to the strength, ability and influence“” “of God” which means “belonging to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Luke shared how Jesus told the “religious leaders” He would be “seated” at God's “right hand” which represented His “strength, ability, influence and authority”.

When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we learn where Jesus knew He was going to be. Though the “religious leaders” in the “Sanhedrin” did not know who He was, Jesus did, and He was going to be “seated” at “God's right hand” of authority. We shall see how these “religious leaders” respond to Jesus in our next verse, but for now let us understand Jesus, who cannot lie, was and is the Messiah and Christ of God. All who believe and trust in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be “saved”, forgiven of their sins and inherit everlasting life with God.

Next time Luke shares how the religious leaders ask Jesus, “are you then the Son of God?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
