The Son of Man Must Be Crucified and Rise - Luke 24:7

Luke the beloved physician wrote about the women who knew Jesus, “upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulcher, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulcher. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek you the living among the dead?He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, ...”, and in chapter twenty-four and verse seven of his book Luke shared how the two men in shining garments reminded the women how Jesus said, “The Son of man must be … crucified, and … rise again” where we read:

Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men,

and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

The verse reads, “Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, ... Luke began with the word, “Saying or “uttering, declaring and proclaiming”, “The Son of man” which means “God's Son Jesus” “must be delivered into the hands” or “needed to be given over to the hands of, managed by and punished, scourged, tormented and put to death” “of sinful men” which means “by wicked, heathen and pre-eminently evil male human beings”. Luke shared how the angels reminded the women how Jesus told them He needed to be given over to the “hands” of “wicked and pre-eminently evil” “men” who would “punish, torment and put Him to death”.

The verse continues, “... and be crucified, and the third day rise again.” Luke added the words, “and be crucified” which means “and be driven down with stakes, palisade and impaled upon a cross”, “and the third day rise again” or “and upon the third day after His death Jesus would arouse and be resurrected”. Luke shared how the angels reminded the women how Jesus told them He was to be impaled upon a cross and after He died would rise from the dead three days later.

When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we learn how the angels continued to remind the women about Jesus telling them He would be “given over” to “men” who would “torture, punish, torment and crucify Him”, and three days later, He would “rise again” from the dead. Jesus is alive, and He is able to save every person who will yield their lives to Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”. The price for sin has been paid by Jesus, and now everyone who submits to Him may receive His “salvation”. God loves everyone, and He has provided the way for every person to be “saved”. Jesus is risen, and He is risen indeed.

Next time Luke shares how, “they remembered his words”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
