In Psalms chapter thirty seven David said, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delights in his way”, and in chapter thirty seven and verse twenty-four of Psalms David said the righteous man, “though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down” where we read,
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholds him with his hand.
The verse begins, “Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down:” David began with the words, “though he fall” or “because, since, except and doubtless whether the righteous person whether male or female is cast down, comes short, wastes away and becomes inferior and prostrated”, “he shall not be utterly cast down” which means “he, the righteous person will in no way be completely hurled or thrown in a downward direction”. David said even if a “righteous” person comes up short or becomes inferior, they in no way will be absolutely thrown downward.
The verse continues, “for the LORD upholds him with his hand.” David added the the words, “for the LORD” or “because, since and on account that Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “upholds him” which means “supports, sustains and braces him, the righteous person” “with his hand” or “by the use of his, Jehovah God's, strength, power and might”. David said the reason the “righteous” person is not “utterly cast down” is because Jehovah God supports and sustains them.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see through David how the “righteous” person may have to be made inferior or prostrated at times, but because Jehovah God is supporting and sustaining them, they will never be completely destroyed. In other words, God is the “righteous” person's security. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Jesus, we align with God's plan of salvation and redemption for everyone. God desires to forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and be our protection, defense and support regardless of the “falls” that come into our lives. God is for us, and when times of casting down come, we may be assured that He will “uphold” us with His power and might so that we will never be “utterly cast down”.
Next time David says he has, “not seen he righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging for bread”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
