Surely There is an End - Proverbs 23:18

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Let not your heart envy sinners: but be you in the fear of the LORD all the day long, and in chapter twenty-three and verse eighteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “for surely there is an end” where we read,

For surely there is an end;

and your expectation shall not be cut off.

The verse begins, “For surely there is an end; Solomon began with the words, “for surely” or “because, since and on account certainly and most assuredly” “there is an end” which means “there exists a hinder-part, latter time and future”.Solomon said certainly there exists a future for his son.

The verse continues, “and your expectation shall not be cut off.” Solomon added the words, “and your expectation” or “and your, Solomon's son's, hope” “shall not be cut off” which means “will in no way or manner exist as eliminated, cut down, killed or destroyed”. Solomon said the future hope of his son would in no way be eliminated as he followed his father's instruction.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon wanted his son to understand that there was an eventual outcome for those who revere Jehovah God throughout their lives and keep themselves from envying “sinners”. God loves us, and His desire is to live with us forever. We have sin in our lives that separates us from a personal relationship with Him, (See Romans 3:10, 23) and God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for pay for the sins of all mankind. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us aware that there is a future hope that will not be “cut off” as we live in awe of Him all our lives.

Next time Solomon says, “hear you, my son, and be wise”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
