LORD, Have Mercy Upon Me - Psalms 30:10

In Psalms chapter thirty David asked, “What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise you? shall it declare your truth?”, and in chapter thirty and verse ten of Psalms David said, “Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me”, where we read,

Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be you my helper.

The verse begins, Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me:” David began with the words, “Hear, O LORD” which means “listen, perceive, pay attention and understand O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “and have mercy upon me” or “and be gracious, show favor and pity me, David”. David appealed to Jehovah God to be gracious and show favor to him.

The verse goes on to say,LORD, be you my helper. David continued with the word, “LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “be you my helper” which means “you, Jehovah God, exist as my, David's, succorer, support and protective aid”. David appealed to Jehovah God to exist as his supporter and aid giver.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David desired Jehovah God to listen and pay attention to him by extending to him grace and favor, and he asked Jehovah to be his support and protective aid. David knew Jehovah was a “gracious God” who is filled with lovingkindness, favor and pity, and He was more than capable to provide protection and provision to him. God desires to have this kind of personal relationship with every person, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross so people could be forgiven of their sins and have age abiding life with Him. God loves us, and He wants to be gracious to us. He will favor us and give us “help” whenever we have needs as we rely upon, cling to and trust in His Son Jesus and align with His plan of salvation and relationship for our lives.

Next time David says, You have turned for me my mourning into dancing, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
