In Psalms chapter thirty David said, “Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be you my helper”, and in chapter thirty and verse eleven of Psalms David said, “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing”, where we read,
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing:
you have put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
The verse begins, “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing:” David began with the words, “You have turned for me” which means “you, Jehovah God, have overturned, changed and transform on behalf of me, David” “my mourning” or “my, David's, wailing and lamentation” “into dancing” which means “to a token of joyousness and praiseful dance”. David told Jehovah God that He had changed his time of wailing and lamentation into a joyful and praise filled dance.
The verse continues, “you have put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;” David added the words, “you have put off my sackcloth” or “you, Jehovah God, have loosened, unstopped and set free my, David's, mesh material sacking worn in mourning or humiliation”, “and girded me” which means “and encompassed, equipped and clothed me, David” “with gladness” or “by the use of mirth, joy, gaiety and pleasure”. David wrote how Jehovah God set him free from mesh material used for mourning and clothed him with joy, mirth and pleasure.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how Jehovah God transformed David's spirit completely when He called out to Him. This is a beautiful part of Jehovah God. He is able to take a person who is in the deepest despair, without hope and wondering whether or not they should continue living, to be a person who is filled with joy, hope and pleasure. God loves people, and He knows life is hard sometimes. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins of mankind, and when we submit ourselves to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and transform us in such a way that regardless of what we face, His countenance, favor and grace is shining upon us. Praise be unto Jehovah God and His Son Jesus Christ for being willing to free us from mourning clothing to be surrounded with His joy and “gladness”.
Next time David says, “To the end that my glory may sing praise to you, and not be silent”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
