In Psalms chapter thirty seven David said, “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. He is ever merciful, and lends; and his seed is blessed”, and in chapter thirty seven and verse twenty-seven of Psalms David said, “depart from evil, and do good” where we read,
Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
The verse begins, “Depart from evil, and do good;” David began with the words, “Depart from evil” or “turn aside, be removed, depose, reject and abolish bad, disagreeableness, malignancy and unpleasantness”, “and do good” which means “and make ready, produce, fashion and accomplish pleasantness, agreeableness, excellence and value”. David instructed his readers and listeners to be removed and turned aside from malignancy and bad and perform pleasant, agreeable and excellent acts and deeds.
The verse goes on to say, “and dwell for evermore.” David continued with the words, “and dwell” or “and settle down, abide and reside” “for evermore” which means “continuously, perpetually, always and indefinitely to an unending future”. David said the “righteous” were to settle down and abide indefinitely and to an unending future.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see David address the behavior of his readers and instructions. He instructed them to reject and abolish “wicked and unpleasant” works, and to perform valuable and excellent ones. The promise to those who abide in this “righteous” manner is that they will abide perpetually and indefinitely. God's desire is for all people to live with Him in Heaven throughout eternity, and when we surrender our lives to His Son Jesus as “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide us with the ability to forsake “wickedness” and perform “pleasant” deeds. God loves us, and we shall praise Him for all eternity in Heaven where we shall live with Him forever.
Next time David says, “the LORD loves judgment”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
