In Psalms chapter thirty seven David said, “Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore. For the LORD loves judgment, and forsakes not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever”, and in chapter thirty seven and verse thirty of Psalms David said, “the mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom” where we read,
The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of judgment.
The verse begins, “The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, ...” David began with the words, “the mouth” or “the orifice in the face used for eating and speaking” “of the righteous” which means “belonging to the just, right, correct and lawful” “speaks wisdom” or “utters, declares and proclaims skill, shrewdness, wit and prudence in ethical and religious affairs”. David said people who are lawful and correct proclaim skillful and shrew words about religious and ethical things.
The verse continues, “... and his tongue talks of judgment.” David added the words, “and his tongue” or “and the righteous person's wedge in the mouth used for talking” “talks of judgment” which means “speaks, utters, declares and proclaims justice, ordinance, process, procedure, litigation, sentence and rectitude”. David said people who are “righteous” use their “tongues” to speak of justice, process and litigation.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how the “righteous” use their mouths and tongues. Jesus said, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks” (See Luke 6:45), and the reason they speak of “wisdom” and “judgment” is because their “hearts” have been made “righteous” by Jehovah God. God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of the world, and anyone who yields their life to Him will have their “hearts” cleansed and their speech purified. God loves us, and His desire is that we say and stand for what He wants rather than use our “mouth” and “tongues” to speak of things which are not wise nor just.
Next time David says, “the law of God is in his heart”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
