In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “My son, if your heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine”, and in chapter twenty-three and verse sixteen of Proverbs Solomon shared what will happen, “when your lips speak right things” where we read,
Yes, my reins shall rejoice, when your lips speak right things.
The verse begins, “Yes, my reins shall rejoice, ...” Solomon began with the words, “yes, my reins” or “even so and indeed, my, Solomon's, kidneys which were thought to be the seat of emotions and affections” “shall rejoice” which means “will exult, triumph and jump for joy”. Solomon said his seat of emotions and affections would exult and jump for joy for the following reason.
The verse continues, “... when your lips speak right things.” Solomon added the words, “when your lips” or “at the time and moment your, Solomon's son', lips used for speaking” “speak right things” which means “utters, declares and proclaims uprightness, straightness, evenness and equity”. Solomon said his inner being would be glad at the time his son's lips would utter and declare straight and equitable words.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon knew he would be emotionally glad at the time his son used his lips for speaking straight and correct words. Jesus said, “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (See Matthew 12:34), and God wants us to have “hearts” that cause Him to be glad. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we yield to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and cleanse us within our “hearts” so we speak in ways that are pleasing to Him. (See 1 John 1:9)
Next time Solomon says, “let not your heart envy sinners”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
