Blessed be the LORD God - Psalms 72:18

In Psalms chapter seventy-two David said of the royal ruler, “His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed”, and in chapter seventy-two and verse eighteen of Psalms David said, “Blessed be the LORD God” where we read,

Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only does wondrous things.

The verse begins, Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, ... David began with the words, “Blessed be the LORD God” or “praised, saluted and adored exists Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “the God of Israel” which means “the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God belonging to Israel whose name means God prevails and is the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacob”. David began to praise, honor and adore Jehovah God the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God who belongs to the country and people of “Israel”.

The verse continues,... who only does wondrous things. David added the words, “who only” or “who alone and solely” “does wondrous things” which means “makes, produces, effects and prepares marvelous, wonderful, surpassing and extraordinary acts and deeds”. David said Jehovah God alone did and performed wonderful and extraordinary works.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David transitioned from his focus upon God blessing the “nation of Israel” to “blessing” God himself. God desires to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when we receive His blessing of salvation through Jesus' sacrifice upon the cross, we shall be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life with Him and given the opportunity to give Him praise and adoration for His wonderful acts toward mankind. Let us join David in praising God for His love and commitment to us.

Next time David says, “blessed be his glorious name for ever”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
