The Righteous Flourishing - Psalms 72:7

In Psalms chapter seventy-two David said of Jehovah God, “He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth”, and in chapter seventy-two and verse seven of Psalms David said, “in his days shall the righteous flourish” where we read,

In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endures.

The verse begins, In his days shall the righteous flourish; David began with the words, “In his days” or “within the time period of the royal ruler” “shall the righteous flourish” which means “will cause the people who are just, right, correct and lawful to bud, sprout and bloom”. David during the time the royal ruler reigns, the people who are just, right and correct will sprout and bloom.

The verse continues, and abundance of peace so long as the moon endures. David added the words, “and abundance of peace” or “and great, abundant and increased amounts of tranquility and calmness will exist” “so long as the moon endures” which means “throughout the entire time the moon in the sky continues, lasts and remains”. David said during the reign of the royal ruler there would be an abundant amount of tranquility and calmness which would remain for the length of time that the moon in the sky continues.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see through David how people who are lawful and just will sprout and bloom during the time the royal ruler governs over them. There will also be calmness and tranquility which will last for the length of time the moon remains. David desired that his son Solomon would govern over people with these results, but it is certain that David's descendant, the Messiah Jesus, will have this type of reign. Jesus was sent to the world by His Father God to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to “flourish” in “tranquility and peace” to a degree that the world has never known before.

Next time David says, “He shall have dominion also from sea to sea”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
