I Will Hope Continually - Psalms 71:14

In Psalms chapter seventy-one David said, “O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help. Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonor that seek my hurt”, and in chapter seventy-one and verse fourteen of Psalms David said, “I will hope continually, and will yet praise you” where we read,

But I will hope continually, and will yet praise you more and more.

The verse begins, But I will hope continually, ... David began with the words, “but I will hope” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover I, David, shall wait, tarry, trust, be patient and stay expectantly” “continually” which means “perpetually, continuously and constantly”. David said he would wait, trust and be patient perpetually.

The verse goes on to say,... and will yet praise you more and more. David continued with the words, “and will yet praise you” or “and shall even so, also and indeed adore, thank and laud with songs and hymns you, Jehovah God” “more and more” which means “to an added and increased degree again and again”. David said he would give Jehovah God honor, glory and thanksgiving with songs to a greater and greater degree.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David determined to perpetually give honor and praise to Jehovah God. He purposed to do so again and again with songs and hymns, and we are studying his words to this day. God loves people, and He loves when they respond to Him by loving Him in return. John the apostle wrote, “We love him, because he first loved us” (See 1 John 4:19), and when we understand that He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins and believe and trust in Him, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and increase in our praise, honor and worship of Him with songs, hymns and every act and deed we perform before His eyes.

Next time David says, “My mouth shall show forth your righteousness and your salvation”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
