How Long Shall the Adversary Reproach? - Psalms 74:10

In Psalms chapter seventy-four Asaph shared how the enemies of God cut down and destroyed the sacred worship place, and the people said,We see not our signs: there is no more any prophet: neither is there among us any that knows how long”, and in chapter seventy-four and verse ten of Psalms Asaph asked, O God, how long shall the adversary reproach?where we read,

O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme your name for ever?

The verse begins, O God, how long shall the adversary reproach?” Asaph began with the words, “O God” or “O Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”, “how long shall the adversary” which means “for what length of time will the enemies, foes and oppressors” “reproach” or “taunt, blaspheme, defy, rail and upbraid”? Asaph asked the “Diving judge Jehovah God” what length of time the enemies and foes would taunt and rail upon them.

The verse goes on to say, shall the enemy blaspheme your name for ever?” Asaph continued with the words, “shall the enemy” or “will the hating foe and adversary” “blaspheme your name” which means “spurn, contemn, despise and abhor your, Divine judge Jehovah God's, fame, reputation and glory” “for ever” or “unto perpetuity, victory, enduringly and unto everlastingness”? Asaph asked the Divine judge Jehovah God whether his hating foes would spurn and contemn His fame, reputation and glory unto perpetuity.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Asaph questioned the Divine judge Jehovah God for what length of time He would allow the foes to continue to taunt and rail upon them. He wondered whether the hating foes would spurn and despise His reputation, fame and glory enduringly. God knows all these things, and He has a plan, purpose and timing for all things. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and contend with the timing and execution of those who oppose Him and His believers.

Next time Asaph asks Jehovah God, why do you withdraw your hand, even your right hand?, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
