God is My King of Old - Psalms 74:12

In Psalms chapter seventy-four Asaph shared how the enemies of God cut down and destroyed the sacred worship place, and Asaph asked, “Why do you withdraw your hand, even your right hand? pluck it out of your bosom”, and in chapter seventy-four and verse twelve of Psalms Asaph said, God is my King of old, working salvationwhere we read,

For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.

The verse begins, For God is my King of old, ...” Asaph began with the words, “For God” or “because, since and on account that the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “is my King of old” which means “exists as my, Asaph's, royal ruler from antiquity, beforetime and the past”. Asaph wondered why the Divine judge Jehovah God who was his royal ruler from the past withdrew His right hand against His enemy.

The verse goes on to say, “... working salvation in the midst of the earth.” Asaph continued with the words, “working salvation” or “making, committing and ordaining rescue, deliverance and prosperity” “in the midst of the earth” which means “within the middle, center and inward part belonging to the country, region, territory and world”. Asaph said the Divine judge Jehovah God produced and ordained deliverance and rescue within the inward part of the world.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see why Asaph wondered why the Divine judge would withdraw His right hand of authority because He was his royal ruler from the past who provided deliverance and rescue within the middle of the world. God is in the business of “salvation”, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind so He could “save” us. “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (See Romans 6:23), and every person is guilty of sin. Jesus paid the price of death for us when He died on the cross, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us recognize not only His ability to rescue us but also deliver every person who surrenders to Him.

Next time Asaph says, You did divide the sea by your strength, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
