The Day and Night are God's - Psalms 74:16

In Psalms chapter seventy-four Asaph said,For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth. You did divide the sea by your strength: you break the heads of the dragons in the waters. You break the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gave him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness. You did cleave the fountain and the flood: you dried up mighty rivers”, and in chapter seventy-four and verse sixteen of Psalms Asaph said, the day is yours, the night also is yourswhere we read,

The day is yours, the night also is yours: you have prepared the light and the sun.

The verse begins, The day is yours, the night also is yours:” Asaph began with the words, “the day is yours” or “the daytime between the sunrise and sunset”, “the night also” which means “the nighttime between sunset and sunrise even so and indeed” “is yours” or “exists as yours, the Divine judge Jehovah God's”. Asaph declared both “day and night” to be possessed and owned by Jehovah God.

The verse goes on to say,you have prepared the light and the sun.” Asaph continued with the words, “you have prepared” or “you, Divine judge Jehovah God, have set up, fixed, made stable and firmly established” “the light” which means “the luminous body and brightness” “and the sun” or “and the sun within the sky”. Asaph referred to the way Jehovah God set and firmly established the luminary brightness and sun in the sky.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Asaph wrote about God's ownership of the cycles of the day and night and the brightness and sun in the sky. In other words, God made and rules over all creation, and He is able to do whatever He desires with it. With His tremendous power, God chose to send His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and make Himself available to rely upon both “day and night” in the world.

Next time Asaph says, you have set all the borders of the earth, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
