The Kings of Tarshish Bringing Presents - Psalms 72:10

In Psalms chapter seventy-two David said of the royal ruler, “He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth. They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust”, and in chapter seventy-two and verse ten of Psalms David said, “the kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents” where we read,

The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents:

the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.

The verse begins, The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: David began with the words, “the kings of Tarshish” or “the royal rulers belonging to Tarshish whose name means yellow jasper and was a city somewhere near and accessible to the Red Sea to which ships constructed at Ezion-geber on the Elanitic Gulf on the Red Sea were to sail” “and of the isles” which means “and belonging to the coast, island and shore regions” “shall bring presents” or “will return, restore and refresh tribute, offering, oblation and sacrifice”. David said royal rulers from the city of “Tarshish” and the “islands” would come with tributes and offerings.

The verse goes on to say,the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts. David continued with the words, “the kings of Sheba” or “and the royal rulers belonging to Sheba whose name means seven or an oath and was a nation in southern Arabia” “and Seba” which means “and Seba whose name means drink you and was a nation south of Palestine, perhaps Ethiopia” “shall offer gifts” or “will draw near, approach and enter to give and bestow presents”. David said the royal rulers from the regions of “Sheba and Seba” would also come to give presents.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through David how royal rulers from the surrounding area would come to the king and bestow presents and gifts upon him. This was fulfilled with Solomon (See 1 Kings 4:34), and it shall be fulfilled with Jesus Christ the Messiah. (See Romans 14:11; Philippians 2:10 and Revelation 20:18) God desires to have a personal relationship with everyone, and when we yield our lives to Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to become a part of the people who willingly bow their knees and profess with their mouths that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Next time David says, “all kings shall fall down before him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
