Enemies Roaring in the Midst - Psalms 74:4

In Psalms chapter seventy-four Asaph said, “Lift up your feet unto the perpetual desolations; even all that the enemy has done wickedly in the sanctuary”, and in chapter seventy-four and verse four of Psalms Asaph said, Your enemies roar in the midst of your congregationswhere we read,

Your enemies roar in the midst of your congregations; they set up their ensigns for signs.

The verse begins, Your enemies roar in the midst of your congregations;” Asaph began with the words, “Your enemies roar” or “your, Divine judge Jehovah God's, hating foes and adversaries rumble, moan and crying in distress like a lion” “in the midst” which means “in the middle or inward part” “of your congregations” or “belonging to your, Jehovah God's, appointed festivals, conventions or assemblies”. Asaph spoke of the hating foes of Jehovah God crying out like a lion in the middle of the assemblage of His people.

The verse continues, they set up their ensigns for signs.” Asaph added the words, “they set up their ensigns” or “the enemies of Jehovah God place, appoint, lay up, direct and establish their distinguishing marks, banners and tokens of remembrance” “for signs” which means “to be used as signals, distinguishing marks and banners of remembrance”. Asaph said the hating foes of Jehovah God establish their banners of remembrance to make their distinguishing marks.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn from Asaph how the hating foes of Jehovah God penetrated His people who have gathered, and they established their territory in the middle of them. This is the strategy of Satan who desires to destroy every person he can for all eternity. Jehovah God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender to Him as our personal “Lord and Savior”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and contend with His “enemies” even when they attempt to take over and be in the midst of God's people.

Next time Asaph shares about a man, as he had lifted up axes, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
