Where Do We Prepare the Passover? - Luke 22:9

Luke the beloved physician wrote, “Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed. And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat”, and in chapter twenty-two and verse nine of his book Luke shared how Peter and James ask Jesus, “Where will you that we prepare?” where we read:

And they said unto him, Where will you that we prepare?

The verse reads,And they said unto him, ...” Luke began with the words, “and they said or “and Peter and John uttered, declared, proclaimed and asked” “unto him” which means “of Jesus”. Luke shared how “Peter and John” asked Jesus the following question.

The verse continues, “... Where will you that we prepare?” Luke added the words, “where will you” or “in what place or location do you, Jesus, want” “that we prepare” which means “us to make ready the necessary preparations and get everything ready”. Luke shared how “Peter and John” wanted to know “where” Jesus wanted them to make the necessary preparations for the passover meal.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we see the natural sequence of events in the life of the disciples. Though they were willing to obey Jesus' directive to prepare the passover meal, they did not know in what location He desired for them to make the necessary preparations. Jesus was available to be asked for what these disciples did not know, and He continues to be available today. Peter and John were not “challenging” Jesus, they just needed information. God loves people to come to Him with their questions, even simple ones, and those who seek Him in prayer and in the reading of His word will often discover the answer for which they are looking. Let all who read these words know that Jesus is “accessible”, and His purpose was to be the “Savior” and “Lord” to all who yield to Him.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus says, “when you are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he enters in”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
