Will the Lord Cast Off Forever? - Psalms 77:7

In Psalms chapter seventy-seven Asaph said, “I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times. I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with my own heart: and my spirit made diligent search”, and in chapter seventy-seven and verse seven of Psalms Asaph asked, Will the Lord cast off for ever?where we read,

Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favorable no more?

The verse begins, Will the Lord cast off for ever? Asaph began with the words, “Will the Lord” or “shall Adonay or the reverent master” “cast off for ever” which means “forcefully reject, become odious and stink for long duration, futurity, everlasting, evermore and perpetually”? Asaph asked himself whether the reverent master Adonay would forcefully reject for long duration and perpetually.

The verse continues, and will he be favorable no more? Asaph added the words, “and will he be favorable” or “and shall Adonay exist as pleased, accepting, determined and satisfied” “no more” which means “no and never again”? Asaph questioned whether the reverent master Adonay would no longer be accepting and satisfied ever again.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how Asaph questioned himself as to whether the reverent Master Jehovah God would reject and become odious to His people perpetually, and He wondered if God's favor would ever be extended to them again. There are times when we may feel abandoned by Jehovah God, however, we should always remember that He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of us all. This proved God's love for us, and He is willing to receive every person who believes and trusts in Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”. Jesus told His disciples, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world” (See Matthew 28:20), and we may be assured, when we trust in, rely upon and cling to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to enjoy His company for all eternity.

Next time Asaph asks, Is his mercy clean gone for ever?, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
