Is His Mercy Gone? - Psalms 77:8

In Psalms chapter seventy-seven Asaph asked, “Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favorable no more?”, and in chapter seventy-seven and verse eight of Psalms Asaph asked, Is his mercy clean gone for ever?where we read,

Is his mercy clean gone for ever? does his promise fail for evermore?

The verse begins, Is his mercy clean gone for ever? Asaph began with the words, “Is his mercy” or “is his, the reverent Master Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “clean gone for ever?” which means “ceased, broken and come to an end for long duration, enduringly, to everlastingness, perpetually and evermore”? Asaph continued to ask himself whether the goodness, kindness and faithfulness of Jehovah God ceased and was come to an end perpetually.

The verse goes on to say, does his promise fail for evermore? Asaph continued with the words, “does his promise” or “does his, the reverent Master Jehovah God's, utterance, speech, word and command” “fail for evermore” which means “come to an end, exist no more and failed”? Asaph questioned whether the word and command of God will come to an end perpetually.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Asaph had doubts whether God's goodness would last and whether His word would perpetually come to an end. Basically Asaph wondered whether God would abandon him and would He be true to His word. God loves people, and He has promised to be with us always. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and constantly remind us through His Holy Spirit that He is with us, His mercy does not cease and He is always true to His word.

Next time Asaph asks, Has God forgotten to be gracious?, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
