In Psalms chapter seventy-seven Asaph said, “This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High”, and in chapter seventy-seven and verse eleven of Psalms Asaph said, “I will remember the works of the LORD” where we read,
I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember your wonders of old.
The verse begins, “I will remember the works of the LORD:” Asaph began with the words, “I will remember” or “I, Asaph, shall call to mind and be reminded of” “the works” which means “the acts, deeds and practices” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Asaph said he would call to mind the acts and deeds performed by Jehovah God.
The verse continues, “surely I will remember your wonders of old.” Asaph added the words, “surely I will remember” or “certainly, truly and verily I, Asaph, shall call to mind and recall” “your wonders of old” which means “your, Jehovah God's, marvels and extraordinary miracles from antiquity, aforetime, earliest times and the past”. Asaph declared that he would certainly and truly call to mind Jehovah God's miracles from the past.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Asaph determines once again to call to mind the marvelous works of God in the past. He made, as it were, a memorandum concerning the times when God previously worked in his life. We may do the same. When we make a list of the times when God intervened in our lives, especially by sending Jesus to the cross for dying for our sins, it gives us hope for the present and future events we encounter. God loves us, and He desires to forgive us of our sins, grant us everlasting life and will accompany us with miracle after miracle as we continue to abide with Him. Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for the provision for us in our past and the presence of the Holy Spirit for our futures.
Next time Asaph says, “I will meditate upon also of all your work”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
