Like a Green Olive Tree - Psalms 52:8

In Psalms chapter fifty two David said, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness”, and in chapter fifty-two and verse eight of Psalms David says, “I am like a green olive tree in the house of God”, where we read,

But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.

The verse begins, But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God:” David began with the words, “But I am like a green olive tree” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover I, David, exist similar and in likeness to an olive tree that is colored green and flourishing, luxuriant and fresh” “in the house of God” which means “within the abode, habitation and dwelling place belonging to the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. David likened himself to a fresh flourishing olive tree which was set within the dwelling place of the Divine judge Jehovah God.

The verse goes on to say,I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.” David continued with the words, “I trust in the mercy” or “I, David, have faith and confidence within goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “of God” which means “belonging to the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “for ever and ever” or “for long duration, everlasting, evermore and into perpetuity”. David said he placed his confidence and faith in the goodness, kindness and faithfulness of the Divine ruler Jehovah God to endless perpetuity.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David compared himself to a “green olive tree” that is flourishing and fresh within the dwelling place of Jehovah God. David had confidence and faith in God, and he believed in “God's” kindness and faithfulness. This is what God desires, and when we understand He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of mankind and we submit our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. Let us follow the example of David and be flourishing and trusting in the “mercy” of Jehovah God who loves when we put our faith and trust in Him.

Next time David says, “I will praise you for ever”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
