You Hate Instruction - Psalms 50:17

In Psalms chapter fifty Asaph said, “unto the wicked God says, What have you to do to declare my statutes, or that you should take my covenant in your mouth?”, and in chapter fifty and verse seventeen of Psalms Asaph shared how Jehovah God told the wicked, “you hate instruction” where we read,

Seeing you hate instruction, and cast my words behind you.

The verse begins, Seeing you hate instruction, ...” Asaph began with the words, “Seeing you” or “considering, since, because and on account that you, wicked people” “hate instruction” which means “are odious and as an enemy or foe towards discipline, chastening and correction”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God told the wicked there was no reason for them to have His “statutes” or “covenants” in their mouths because they were enemies to discipline and correction.

The verse goes on to say, “... and cast my words behind you” Asaph continued with the words, “and cast my words” or “and throw, hurl and fling off my, Jehovah God's, speech, utterance, commandments and counsel” “behind you” which means “at the hinder part of you, wicked people”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God said the wicked people threw His commandments and counsel to the hinder parts of them.

When we consider the words in this verse, we discover through Asaph how Jehovah God knew how the “wicked” responded to His correction and counsel. They disregarded it, and rather than obey Him, they threw away His speeches to them. God knows everything and everyone, and when He speaks, we should listen and obey. God loves us, and His desire is for us to have a personal and intimate relationship with Him which allows Him to direct our lives. God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, and He raised Him from the grave three days later so we might live with Him forever. God knows what is best for us, and lest we be like the “wicked” who have no time or commitment to His “words”, let us honor Jehovah God and Jesus Christ His Son and observe His “words” all the days of our lives.

Next time Asaph shares how Jehovah God tells the wicked, when you saw a thief, then you consent with him, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
