Truth in the Inward Parts - Psalms 51:6

In Psalms chapter fifty one David said, “Behold, I was shaped in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me”, and in chapter fifty-one and verse six of Psalms David told God, “you desire truth in the inward parts”, where we read,

Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts:

and in the hidden part you shall make me to know wisdom.

The verse begins, Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts:” David began with the words, “Behold, you desire truth” or “lo, look and consider, you, Jehovah God, take delight, pleasure and favor in firmness, faithfulness, sureness and reliability” “in the inward parts” which means “within the inner regions, hidden recesses and inmost thoughts”. David referred to how Jehovah God takes pleasure and delight in faithfulness, sureness and reliability within the hidden recesses and inmost thoughts of people.

The verse goes on to say,and in the hidden part you shall make me to know wisdom.” David continued with the words, “and in the hidden part” or “and within the shut up, kept close and stopped up portion” “you shall make me to know” which means “you, Jehovah God, will cause me, David, to perceive, discriminate, distinguish and experience” “wisdom” or “skill, shrewdness and prudence”. David said Jehovah God would cause him to perceive and experience skill and prudence within the closed up portion of his mind and soul.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see through David what God desires. God wants us to be “truthful” with Him and ourselves, and deep within our souls we know and may be made to know what we truly think, purpose and plan for our lives. God knows us, and He wants to pour out His skills and prudence within us. He will do so when we submit to His Son Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”. He promised to forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give to us His Holy Spirit to “guide” us into all “truth” when we surrender to Him. (See John 16:13) Our advantage comes when we yield to Jesus and allow Jehovah God to reveal who we really are and who He planned and purposed for us to be.

Next time David tells God, “purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
