In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah shared concerning Judah, “Out of him came forth the corner, out of him the nail, out of him the battle bow, out of him every oppressor together”, and in chapter ten and verse five of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “they shall be as mighty men” where we read,
And they shall be as mighty men, which tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle: and they shall fight, because the LORD is with them, and the riders on horses shall be confounded.
The verse reads, “And they shall be as mighty men, which tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle:” Zechariah began with the words, “and they shall be as mighty men” or “and they, the people of Judah, will exist similar and in likeness to male strong, powerful and brave human beings”, “which tread down their enemies” which means “that reject, trample down and desecrate their, the people of Judah's, adversaries and foes” “in the mire of the streets” or “within the belonging to the mud, clay and damp dirt belonging to the broad avenues or highways” “in the battle” which means “within the fighting and war”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God declared that the people of Judah would exist similar to a powerful and brave male human being that will trample their adversaries within the damp clay in the broad avenues and highways.
The verse goes on to say, “and they shall fight, because the LORD is with them, and the riders on horses shall be confounded.” Zechariah continued with the words, “and they shall fight” or “and they, the people of Judah, will battle and make war”, “because the LORD” which means “since and on account that Jehovah who is the existing One” “is with them” or “exists alongside and beside them, the people of Judah”, “and the riders on horses” which means “and ones who mount swifts or chariot horses” “shall be confounded” or “will exist as dried up, withered and without moisture”.Zechariah shared how Judah would go to battle since Jehovah God accompanies them, and the ones who mount chariot horses will exist as withered and dried up.
When we consider Zechariah's words in this verse, we discover how Judah would not only be like powerful warriors that trample their adversaries in the highways within the war, but also that they are able to do so because Jehovah God exist alongside them. Those who oppose them and mount horses of war will be dried up and withered. In other words, Judah will be victorious because God is victorious. God desires to be in a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for their sins, and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to know “the battle belongs to the LORD” and He shall win throughout all eternity. (See 1 Samuel 17:47; 2 Chronicles 20:15)
Next time Zechariah shares how Jehovah God says, “I will strengthen the house of Judah”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
