In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God asked the people of Israel and the priests, “Should you not hear the words which the LORD has cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?”, and in chapter seven and verse eight of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah” where we read,
And the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah, saying,
The verse reads, “And the word of the LORD ...” Zechariah began with the words, “and the word” or “and the the speech, utterance and declaration” “of the LORD” which means “ belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” did the following. Zechariah spoke of Jehovah God's “speech and utterance” again.
The verse continues, “... came unto Zechariah, saying,” Zechariah added the words, “came unto Zechariah” or “happened, fell out and arose toward Zechariah whose name means Jehovah remembers and was the eleventh in order of the minor prophets; a priest, son of Berechiah and grandson of Iddo, who, along with Haggai, directed the rebuilding of the temple in the days of Zerubbabel”, “saying” which means “uttering, declaring and proclaiming” the words in our next verse. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God spoke to him another time with the utterance within our next verse.
When we meditate upon Zechariah's words in this verse, we learn how the “speech” of Jehovah God happened to him another time. We shall see what God has to say to him in our next verse, but for now let us be reminded that it is a good thing to hear from God over and over again. Whether it is from His word, the Bible, or from His Holy Spirit, God is always speaking to us, and we should listen. God loves us, and He proved His love to us when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for our sins. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us “ears to hear what the Spirit” of God says to us every day. (See Revelation Matthew 11:15; 13:9, 43; Mark 4:9,23; 7:16; Luke 8:8; 14:35)
Next time Zechariah shares how the LORD says, “execute true judgment and show mercy”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
