In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said of Israel, “the LORD of hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour, and subdue with sling stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and as the corners of the altar”, and in chapter nine and verse sixteen of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “the LORD shall save them” where we read,
And the LORD their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people:
for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon his land.
The verse reads, “And the LORD their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people:” Zechariah began with the words, “and the LORD their God” or “and Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God who is the Supreme Deity of Israel” “shall save them” which means “will liberate, deliver and rescue them, the people of Israel” “in that day” or “within that time period and season” “as the flock of his people” which means “similar and in likeness to the multitude, group or assemblage belonging to his, Jehovah God's, human beings both male and female”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God who is the Supreme Deity of Israel will rescue and deliver them within that season because they are the assemblage and collection belonging to His human beings.
The verse continues, “for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon his land.” Zechariah added the words, “for they shall be” or “because, since and on account that they, the people of Israel, will exist” “as the stones of a crown” which means “similar and in likeness to the precious sacred gems belonging to a consecrated, separate and charming diadem”, “lifted up as an ensign” or “roused and raised similar and in likeness to a beacon or flag” “upon his land” which means “on his, Jehovah God's, territory, country and inhabited earth”. Zechariah shared how the people of Israel would exist similar to the precious jewels within a diadem and raised similar to a banner within Jehovah God's earth.
When we consider Zechariah's words in this verse, we learn how Jehovah God, who was the people of Israel's Supreme Deity, would rescue them as the assemblage of His human beings, and they would become similar to the jewels in a royal “crown” and in likeness to a banner that is waved over the entire world. God chose the people of Israel to be the nation through whom His Messiah and Son Jesus would come, and Jesus' mission was to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind so they may be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and enjoy a personal relationship with Him. Anyone, including us, who humbles themselves, repents of their sins and surrenders to Jesus as their “Savior and Lord” will be saved, rescued and delivered so they become a “jewel” in His “crown” and a banner to show the world that Jesus saves.
Next time Zechariah says, “how great is his goodness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
