In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “Thus says the LORD of host; it shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities. And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also”, and in chapter eight and verse twenty-two of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said, “many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD”where we read,
Yes, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem,
and to pray before the LORD.
The verse reads, “Yes, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, ...” Zechariahbegan with the words, “yes, many people” or “even so and indeed, a great number, numerous and an abundant amount of human beings both male and female” “and strong nations” which means “and powerful, mighty and great people groups which are usually non-Hebrew or Gentiles” “shall come to seek” or “will enter, go in and be enumerated to desire, request and beseech” “the LORD of hosts” which means “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God who is over the spiritual army of angels and warriors” “in Jerusalem” or “within Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God who rules over the angel armies said a great number of “people” from mighty and powerful “nations” would enter into Jerusalem to search for and beseech Him.
The verse continues, “... and to pray before the LORD.” Zechariah added the words, “and to pray” or “and to humble themselves, entreat and grieve” “before the LORD” which means “in front and in the face and countenance of Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God”. Zechariah shared how “people and strong nations” would “come to seek the LORD”, humble themselves and entreat Him.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how Jehovah God said people from around the world would enter into Jerusalem to humble themselves and entreat Him. God loves people from every location, and regardless of their “nation” or people group, He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for their sins. When we humble ourselves, repent of our sins and believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and given a desire to “seek” Him with all our hearts and to “pray” incessantly to Him throughout our days.
Next time Zechariah shares how Jehovah God said, “ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
