Marvelous in God's Eyes - Zechariah 8:6

In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah wrote concerning Jerusalem, “Thus says the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age. And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof, and in chapter eight and verse six of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how the LORD said this is, “marvelous in my eyes” where we read,

Thus says the LORD of hosts; If it be marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvelous in my eyes? says the LORD of hosts.

The verse reads, “Thus says the LORD of hosts; If it be marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days,... Zechariah began with the words, “thus says the LORD of hosts” or “therefore, then and on this account utters, declares and proclaims Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God who is over the spiritual army of angels and warriors”; “If it be marvelous” which means “whether and in case it exists as wonderful, surpassing and extraordinary” “in the eyes” or “within the physical eyes for vision” “of the remnant” which means “belonging to the rest, residue and remainder” “of this people” or “pertaining to the human beings both male and female” “in these days” which means “within these seasons and periods of time”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God began to ask in case His bringing calm upon the remainder of the people of Israel was wonderful and extraordinary within their vision, wouldn't the following be true as well.

The verse continues, “... should it also be marvelous in my eyes? says the LORD of hosts. Zechariah added the words, “should it also be marvelous” or “is it not reasonable and true that the peace and calm brought upon Jerusalem even so and indeed” “in my eyes” which means “within my, Jehovah God's, sight and vision”? “says the LORD of hosts” or “utters, declares and proclaims Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God who is over the spiritual army of angels and warriors”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God questioned since the calm and tranquility that He brought upon the remainder of the people of Israel who returned to Jerusalem was wonderful in their sight, isn't it reasonable that it would be wonderful in His sight as well?

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how Jehovah God asked a reasonable question of the people of Israel because they enjoyed the wonderful peace that was brought upon them by Him. Was it not sensible that He would be delighted with it too? God loves people, and He loves to provide for them and protect them. He knew “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (See Romans 3:23), and “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. (See Romans 6:23) This is why He sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us an appreciation for His provision and protection according to His eternal purposes and will.

Next time Zechariah shares how the LORD says, “I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
