In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said of Israel, “I will sow them among the people: and they shall remember me in far countries; and they shall live with their children, and turn again”, and in chapter ten and verse ten of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “I will bring them again out of the land of Egypt” where we read,
I will bring them again also out of the land of Egypt, and gather them out of Assyria;
and I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon; and place shall not be found for them.
The verse reads, “I will bring them again also out of the land of Egypt, and gather them out of Assyria;” Zechariah began with the words, “I will bring them again” or “I, Jehovah God, shall lead and return the people of Ephraim and Israel another time” “also out of the land of Egypt” which means “even so and indeed from the territory, region, district and country of Egypt whose name means land of the Copts and is a country at the northeastern section of Africa, adjacent to Palestine, and through which the Nile flows”, “and gather them” or “and collect and assemble them, the people of Ephraim and Israel” “out of Assyria” which means “from Assyria whose name means a step and was the country of the people of Asshur or the Assyrians”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said He would cause the people of Ephraim and Israel return to their homeland from the country of “Egypt” and assemble them from “Assyria”.
The verse continues, “and I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon; and place shall not be found for them.”Zechariah added the words, “and I will bring them” or “and I, Jehovah God, shall lead, return and resettle the people of Ephraim or Israel” “into the land of Gilead” which means “in the territory, region, district and country of Gilead whose name means rocky region and was a mountainous region bounded on the west by the Jordan, on the north by Bashan, on the east by the Arabian plateau, and on the south by Moab and Ammon” “and Lebanon” or “and Lebanon whose name means whiteness and is a wooded mountain range on the northern border of Israel”; “and place shall not be found for them” which means “and room for, the people of Ephraim and Israel, will in no way or manner be secured, acquired or gained by them, the people of Ephraim and Israel”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said He would resettle the people of Ephraim and Israel into “Gilead and Lebanon”, and there would not be enough room for all of them.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how Jehovah God regathered the people of Ephraim and Israel from “Egypt and Assyria”, and they were to be resettled within the regions of “Gilead and Lebanon”. There would be so many of them who were gathered that there would not be sufficient room for them. God loves the people of Israel, and when He sent His Son Jesus into the world through the people of Israel to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He provided the way to be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and to have access to Him for all our desires and needs. (See Hebrews 4:16; Philippians 4:19)
Next time Zechariah shares how Jehovah God says, “he shall pass through the sea with affliction”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
