In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chisleu; When they had sent unto the house of God Sherezer and Regemmelech, and their men, to pray before the LORD, and to speak unto the priests which were in the house of the LORD of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?”, and in chapter seven and verse four of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “then came the word of the LORD of hosts to me” where we read,
Then came the word of the LORD of hosts unto me, saying, ...
The verse reads, “Then came the word of the LORD of hosts ...” Zechariah began with the words, “then came” or “at that time happened, fell out and arose” “the word of the LORD of host” which means “the speech, utterance and declaration belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God who is over the spiritual army of angels and warriors”. Zechariah shared how the speech and utterance of Jehovah God who rules over the angel armies came according to the following.
The verse continues, “... unto me, saying, ...” Zechariah added the words, “unto me” or “to me, Zechariah”, “saying”which means “uttering, declaring and proclaiming” the words in our next verse. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God's speech and utterance arose and happened to him again.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah about another time when Jehovah God spoke to him. We shall see what God said in our next verse, however, let us be reminded that God was continually speaking to Zechariah. God loves the people of Israel, and His purposes and plans for them are continual even as they are for us. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and will teach us through His Holy Spirit to hear Him when He speaks.
Next time Zechariah shares how the LORD asks a question about, “when you fasted and mourned”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
