Feed the Flock of the Slaughter - Zechariah 11:4

In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “There is a voice of the howling of the shepherds; for their glory is spoiled: a voice of the roaring of young lions; for the pride of Jordan is spoiled”, and in chapter eleven and verse four of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said, “feed the flock of the slaughter” where we read,

Thus says the LORD my God; Feed the flock of the slaughter;

The verse reads, Thus says the LORD my God; Zechariah began with the words, “thus says the LORD” or “therefore, then and wherefore utters, declares and proclaims Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “my God” which means “my, Zechariah's, Supreme Deity”. Zechariah began to share his Supreme Deity Jehovah God's words again.

The verse continues, “Feed the flock of the slaughter; Zechariah added the words, “feed the flock” or “graze, tend to and nourish the multitude” “of the slaughter” which means “belonging to the ones destined to be killed”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God instructed the people who were destined to be killed to be tended to and nourished instead.

When we think through Zechariah's words in this verse, we see how God was concerned with the care of His people Israel. Although others wanted them to die, God gave instruction to care for them. God loves the people of Israel, and because they were to be used to bring salvation to the world through God's Son Jesus Christ who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He made provision for them. God loves us, and He wants a personal relationship with us. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us an understanding for the preservation of Israel and therein eternal salvation for the world.

Next time Zechariah shares how Jehovah God says, “whose possessors slay them, and hold themselves not guilty”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
