In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah wrote, “And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chisleu”, and in chapter seven and verse two of Zechariah, Zechariah shared what happened, “when they had sent unto the house of God Sherezer and Regemmelech, and their men, to pray” where we read,
When they had sent unto the house of God Sherezer and Regemmelech,
and their men, to pray before the LORD,
The verse reads, “When they had sent unto the house of God Sherezer and Regemmelech, ...” Zechariah began with the words, “when they had sent” or “at the time and moment they, the people of Israel, dispatched and assigned” “unto the house of God” which means “to the dwelling place, habitation and abode belonging to the Supreme Deity” “Sherezer”whose name means “prince of fire” “and Regemmelech” whose name means “king's heap”. Zechariah referred to the time that the people of Israel dispatched “Sherezer and Regemmelch” to the dwelling place of Jehovah God for the following reason.
The verse continues, “... and their men, to pray before the LORD, ...” Zechariah added the words, “and their men” or “and their, Sherezer and Regemmelch's, male human beings”, “to pray” which means “to entreat, beseech and travail” “before the LORD” or “in front, in the face and within the countenance of Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Zechariah shared how male human beings accompanied “Sherezer and Regemmelch” to make orations in the presence of Jehovah God.
When we meditate upon Zechariah's words in this verse, we discover how the people of Israel dispatched two men, “Sherezer and Regemmelch” and their fellow male companions to entreat Jehovah God. We shall see what they “pray”for in our next verses, but for now let us keep in mind that the people of Israel decided they needed representatives to go in front of Jehovah God. God wants everyone to have access to Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us how to go before His throne of grace and mercy in our time of need. (See Hebrews 4:16)
Next time Zechariah shares how the men began, “to speak unto the priests which were in the house of the LORD of host”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
