In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “Thus says the LORD of hosts; The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace”, and in chapter eight and verse twenty of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God spoke about, “people and inhabitants coming” again where we read,
Thus says the LORD of host; it shall yet come to pass,
that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities.
The verse reads, “Thus says the LORD of hosts; it shall yet come to pass, ...” Zechariah began with the words, “thus says the LORD of hosts” or “therefore, then, wherefore and on this account utters, declares and proclaims Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God who is over the spiritual army of angels and warriors”; “it shall yet come to pass” which means “and the following will still happen, occur and fall out”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God who rules over angel armies declared that the following would occur.
The verse continues, “... that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities.” Zechariah added the words, “that there shall come people” or “that human beings both male and female will enter, be enumerated and lead in”, “and the inhabitants” which means “and the abiders, dwellers and settlers” “of many cities” or “belonging to a great number, numerous and an abundant amount of towns, villages, encampments and guarded places of waking”. Zechariah shared how male and female human beings and settlers of a great number of towns and guarded places would enter.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how Jehovah God said people from an abundant amount of places would enter into the land of Israel. From all over the world people were to return to the “beautiful land” as God regathered His people together once again. God caused this to happen for the nation of Israel and continues to do so today. God loves the people of Israel, and He loves us as well. He desires to assemble people from around the world to believe and trust in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead three days later so anyone who believes can be saved and become part of His family. (See John 1:12) People from every tribe, nation and tongues will be in the Kingdom of Heaven because they they believe and trust in Jesus as their “Savior and Lord” and have been forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and allowed to live with God forever. Let all who read these words realize God's worldwide invitation and receive His Son Jesus today. (See Revelation 5:9; 14:6)
Next time Zechariah shares how Jehovah God says, “the inhabitants of one city shall go to another”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
