In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said, “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, your King comes unto you: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass”, and in chapter nine and verse ten of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said, “I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim” where we read,
And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.
The verse reads, “And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off:” Zechariah began with the words, “and I will cut off the chariot” or “and I, Jehovah God, shall eliminate, hew down and destroy the horse drawn wagon or carriage for battle” “from Ephraim” which means “separate and apart from Ephraim whose name means double ash-heap or I shall be doubly fruitful and was the name used for the norther kingdom”, “and the horse from Jerusalem” or “and the swallow or chariot horses separate and apart from Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split”, “and the battle bow” which means “and the archers bow used in fighting and war” “shall be cut off” or “will exist as eliminated, hewn down and destroyed”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said He would eliminate the war wagons from “Ephraim”, the war horse from “Jerusalem” and the archers' bow for war.
The verse continues, “and he shall speak peace unto the heathen:” Zechariah added the words, “and he shall speak peace” or “and he, the Royal King or Messiah, will utter, declare and proclaim soundness, safety, health and prosperity” “unto the heathen” which means “toward the non-Hebrew, foreign and Gentile nations”. Zechariah shared how the “Royal King” would bring soundness and safety to all the nations.
Finally the verse says, “and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.” Zechariah concluded this verse with the words, “and his dominion” which means “and his, the Royal King's, empire and rule” “shall be from sea even to sea” or “will exist from the large body of water such as the Mediterranean, Red or Dead Sea unto the large body of water”, “and from the river” which means “and separate and apart from the stream, flood or river such as the Nile” “even to the ends of the earth” or “indeed unto the ceasing, finality and extremities belonging to the country, territory, district, region and world”. Zechariah ended this verse by sharing how the rule of the “Royal King” would be spread out from the “sea to the sea” and unto the extremity of the world.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how the rule of the Messiah and Royal King would be spread throughout the world. (See Acts 10:37-43). A war chariot would be eliminated from “Ephraim”, the war horse from “Jerusalem” and the archer's bow used in battle would be made useless as well, and the Messiah would declare calm and tranquility upon the Gentile nations. His rule would exist from “sea to sea” and from the “river” and throughout the world. God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to be in His Kingdom as He rules over all nations and the world. (See Revelation 11:15)
