In the Fourth Year of Darius Zechariah 7:1

In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how the angel said, “they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if you will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, and in chapter seven and verse one of Zechariah, Zechariah wrote, “in the fourth year of king Darius” where we read,

And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius,

that the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chisleu;

The verse reads, “And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, ... Zechariah began with the words, “and it came to pass” or “and it happened, fell out or occurred ” “in the fourth year” which means “within the fourth annual time period” “of king Darius” or “pertaining to the royal ruler and leader named Darius whose name means lord and was Darius the Mede, the son of Ahasuerus, king of the Chaldeans, who succeeded to the Babylonian kingdom on the death of Belshazzar; probably the same as "Astyages" the last king of the Medes (538 BC)”. Zechariah shared how some two years had passed and now he was in the “fourth year” of the reign of “Darius the Mede” when the following occurred.

The verse goes on the say, “... that the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chisleu; Zechariah continued with the words, “that the word” or “that the speech, utterance and decree” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God” “came unto Zechariah” or “happened and fell out to Zechariah whose name means Jehovah remembers and was eleventh in order of the minor prophets; a priest, son of Berechiah and grandson of Iddo, who, along with Haggai, directed the rebuilding of the temple in the days of Zerubbabel” “in the fourth day of the ninth month” which means “within the fourth sunrise to sunset belonging to the ninth lunar month or new moon”, “even in Chisleu” or “indeed within Chisleu which means his confidence and corresponds to November to December”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God's utterance happened to him within the “fourth day” of the “ninth lunar moon period”, “Chisleu” during the “fourth year” of the reign of Darius.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how Jehovah God began to speak to him about a two years after his first experience and vision, and we will discover what God had to say in our next verses. This is a transition for Zechariah, and he will discover the LORD's new words for Israel. God loves the people of Israel and He loves us. When He staggers His utterances, we should always remember that He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a desire to hear Him speak even when there is a lapse of time between His words.

Next time Zechariah began to share what happened, “when they had sent unto the house of God Sherezer and Regemmelech, and their men, to pray”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
