In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said, “I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the LORD their God, and will hear them”, and in chapter ten and verse seven of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man” where we read,
And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall rejoice as through wine:
yes, their children shall see it, and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in the LORD.
The verse reads, “And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall rejoice as through wine:”Zechariah began with the words, “And they of Ephraim” or “and they, the people, belonging to Ephraim whose name means double ash-heap or I shall be doubly fruitful and was sometimes the name used for the northern kingdom” “shall be like a mighty man” which means “will exist similar and in likeness to a strong, powerful and brave male human being who is a warrior and champion”, “and their heart” or “and the inner man, mind, will and understanding of the people of Ephraim” “shall rejoice” which means “will be glad, exult and gleeful” “as through wine” or “as if with effervescent fruit of the vine”. Zechariah shared how the people of “Ephraim” or Israel will exist similar and in likeness to a powerful and mighty warrior, and their souls and minds will be gleeful and filled with joy as if they were filled with effervescent fruit of the vine.
The verse goes on to say, “yes, their children shall see it, and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in the LORD.” Zechariah continued with the words, “yes, their children shall see it” or “even so and indeed, their, the people of Ephraim's, offspring and progeny will perceive, regard, observe, behold and discern the powerful warrior and the rejoicing of their minds and wills”, “and be glad” which means “and be rejoice, glad, gleeful and filled with cheer”; “their heart shall rejoice” or “and the inner man, mind, will and understanding of the children of the people of Ephraim will exult, be glad and joyful” “in the LORD” which means “within Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Zechariah shared how the offspring of the people of “Ephraim” or Israel will observe the powerful warrior of Israel and the rejoicing of their soul, and the souls of their “children” would also be joyful and cheerful within Jehovah God.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how Jehovah God would cause the people of “Ephraim” or Israel to exist like a powerful warrior, and their soul would be gleeful and filled with joy because of it. Their offspring would observe their ability and behavior and would be cheerful themselves within Jehovah God. God loves the people of Israel, and He gives them the ability to become strong and powerful, and He provides conditions that make them glad. God loves us as well, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world through the people of Israel to die on the cross for all of mankind. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and fill our souls with joy and cheer because He is with us.
Next time Zechariah shares how Jehovah God says, “I will hiss for them, and gather them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
