In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah wrote, “Thus says the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country”, and in chapter eight and verse eight of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how the LORD said, “I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem” where we read,
And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem:
and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.
The verse reads, “And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem:” Zechariah began with the words, “and I will bring them” or “and I, Jehovah God, shall carry, lead and cause them the people of Israel, to come near”, “and they shall dwell” which means “and they, the people of Israel, will live, abide and inhabit” “in the midst of Jerusalem” or “within the middle and center of Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said He would lead the people of Israel, and they would abide within the middle of the city of “Jerusalem”.
The verse continues, “and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.” Zechariah added the words, “and they shall be my people” or “and they, the people of Israel, will exist as my, Jehovah God's, human beings both male and female”, “and I will be their God” which means “and I, Jehovah God, shall exist as their, the people of Israel's, Supreme Deity”, “in truth” or “in firmness, faithfulness, sureness and reliability” “and in righteousness”which means “and in justice, prosperity, virtue and moral rightness”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said the people of Israel would exist as His “people”, and He would exist as their Supreme Deity in faithfulness, reliability, sureness, prosperity and moral virtue.
When we consider Zechariah's words in this verse, we discover how Jehovah God desired to lead the people of Israel back into their own country and into the city of “Jerusalem”. When they surrendered their lives to Him, He would commit to be their “Supreme Deity”. God also wants to be in a personal intimate relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us His “truth and and righteousness” that shall be with us for all eternity.
Next time Zechariah shares how the LORD says, “let your hands be strong”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
